Beat the summer heat

 

While for some part of the world, summer is a time to rejoice spring, other parts are under the killer heat wave. So here are some following great tips for you and your family to enjoy this bright season. Very firstly, making changes in your diet will help you beat the summer fatigue. Replace the oily spicy curries with fresh and crispy fruits and vegetable salad. Incorporating such diet even for one meal such as lunch brings a lot of energy to your body, and does make you feel sluggish at work hours. If you drink adequate amount of water, it’s time that along with it you include fresh juices of fruits like watermelons, muskmelons, oranges, lemons and more. Vegetable juices are also great if you and your family taste buds enjoy them. Making handmade juice or flavored tang popsicles is a great hit with the kids. Try including curd or buttermilk in your meals, so the good bacteria helps your stomach and keeps the heat of body in control.

 

For your external self, light colored good daylight cottons and linens are best choices. Dark colors absorb heat making it hotter, so make good choice for yourself and family. Do your outdoor work during the coolest part of the day, usually early in the morning or very late in the evening. Take frequent breaks while working outdoors and always keep a bottle of water or juice to keep you well hydrated throughout. Using a proper sunscreen can save you from the damage and skin problems caused by the sun rays. Choose the appropriate range of SPF according to the region you live, because some might require moderate while others might need high range. Also the dryness caused by the hot winds can be controlled by using a fine water-based moisturizer.

 

Summertime for children can be downright sweltering. Many activities-ball games, tennis clinics, band camp, and football training-take place during this hot season, and everyone is at risk for dehydration and heat illness when exposed to sun, high temperatures, and humidity. However, children are at a greater risk because a child's body surface makes up a much greater proportion of his overall weight compared to an adult. So always take precaution of their liquid intake during this month. Form a group with other mothers and try to do additional of home activities like painting, ceramic art and more to keep them entertained.
